Brian Hart, Tenor I

"Reveille is a great family to be a part of."

Brian Hart has been singing with Reveille since 1996! But don’t call him an old timer, this member of the first tenor section is known for his unique voice and singing style. Brian has sung with both Reveille and Desert Voices. He has traveled with Reveille to GALA in Montreal in 2004 and with Reveille when we toured Mexico in 2007. Music and singing are his passion as you will soon find out!

When and where were you born?  1964 in Florida,  on my sister Lorna’s  birthday, April 13th.

Where did you grow up? In Pompano Beach, Florida.

When did you move to Tucson? I moved here in 1996 with my then partner Michael.

What brought you to Tucson? We were tired of Florida so we first moved to New Orleans. We lived there for 9 months, hated it and decided to move to Tucson.

What do you do for a living? I work doing data entry for a private pharmacy that delivers meds to nursing homes.

You’ve been singing with Reveille for a long time, when did you join? I joined when I moved to Tucson in 1996. I had no car because it was stolen in New Orleans, one of the chorus members used to give me a ride. I left Reveille when Jim Gaul left. I sang with Desert Voices for a season and I went with them to Gala in San Jose in 2000.  I rejoined Reveille when Linus took over as director.  Then my partner and I moved to Lake Havasu  for a year and half. Finally, I rejoined Reveille in 2004.

What motivated you to join? I've always loved to sing with choruses. I sang in Florida with Tampa Bay Gay Men’s Chorus in 1984 and sang with the New Orleans chorus as well. It really helped me come out of my shell and meet some really great friends.

What does singing with Reveille mean to you? Singing is my life! I don't go a day without  singing  something  in the car or at home. I love that we touch other people’s lives

with our songs.

What keeps you coming back? The great new challenges and opportunities that come our way and the new friends gained.

How have things changed since you joined? Well, the direction we’ve been going lately towards theatrical, Broadway type of shows as opposed to the standing and singing we used to do.

If you could pick any song for Reveille to sing what would it be? I would love more a capella  songs, a concert devoted to just that  style of music.

What is your fondest Reveille memory so far? There have been so many, too many to mention here but recently I’d say having a marriage proposal live on stage really took the cake!

When you were a little boy what did you dream of being when you grew up? I wanted to be a singing star or sing in a band .

What do you like to do for fun (besides Reveille)? Sing karaoke. I met my current partner at Woody’s in 2000 singing karaoke. I love singing with by buddy Dana. I also like playing video games and reading.

What's your favorite place to hang-out here in Tucson? Brodie’s for Karaoke  on Sundays.

What's your favorite movie? Probably “The Wizard of Oz”. My favorite musical is “Grease”,  and favorite drama would be “Now Voyager” with Bette Davis.

Besides choral music, what kind of music do you enjoy listening to?  Anything that tells a story and involves lots of harmony.

What's your biggest regret? That I have missed out on a lot for being so shy.

What really pisses you off? People who are capable of doing things but who act needy.

What's your best asset?  My voice. It’s very unique and I’m able to mimic other vocalists.

If you could go back in time and change one decision you made when you were younger what would that be? I’d go to my prom. I didn’t like my class. I had a difficult high school life.

If you could choose one person (any person living or dead) to spend an evening with who would that be? Bette Davis. She was an amazing actress and she was an Aries like me.

If you won the lottery tomorrow how would it change about the way you live (besides making a nice donation to Reveille)? I’d travel to all the countries I’ve never seen and have my own record label.

Who do you admire the most? My mom. She used to be a singer when she was a teenager.

Any parting words you’d care to share? Reveille is a great family to be a part of. I can’t wait for all the greater opportunities yet to come.
